Landfill methods. There are three principal landfill methods of landfilling. ... (1) Excavated cell method: This is the most common landfill method as it provides an on-site source of borrow soil for cover and is suited to most topographical settings. Two general methods of landfilling have evolved: the area method and the trench method. Some schools of thought also include a third, the slope, or ramp, method. ... In X-ray topography, a crystal is illuminated using a highly parallel monochromatic X-ray beam and the diffraction pattern is recorded using fine-grain film placed very close to the crystal. Under these illumination conditions, the diffraction from different points in the crystal is spatially resolved at the film, and the diffraction spots provide images of the crystal. Image contrast results from variations in the diffracted intensity due to variations in lattice orientation and spacing associated with crystal defects and strains. X-ray topography probes bulk crystal perfection with a spatial resolution of a few micrometers. 2, record 13, English, - topography

Color removal. The brown color of pulp mill effluents originates with the wood handling, chemical pulping and bleaching operations, and is due to the presence of tannin and lignin derivatives. ... Coagulation processes are now preferentially applied to wastewaters following secondary treatment because of more complete color removal. It has also been found that the biological process itself causes the formation of additional color. The rapid infiltration process appears to be a good choice for color removal at mill sites with suitable topography and subsoil characteristics. In this method, the wastewater is percolated through porous subsoil strata before reaching the receiving water. The color is removed by adsorption and precipitation onto soil particles. Because the soil strata becomes rather rapidly saturated, it is necessary to operate a number of basins intermittently, allowing time between dosages for regeneration of the adsorbing surfaces. 1, record 18, English, - rapid%20infiltration%20process

1, record 18, French, - infiltration%20rapide
