The rotor element of the turbine section consists essentially of a shaft and a wheel. The turbine wheel is a dynamically balanced unit consisting of blades attached to a rotating disk. Les turbines axiales regroupent les Kaplan, les bulbes et les hélices. Ce sont toutes des turbines à réaction. Elles se rencontrent dans les aménagements à forts débits et faible chutes (de 2 à 30 m). De multiples possibilités d’installations existent en fonction de l’aménagement. Les configurations hélice sont rares en petite hydraulique, celle-ci nécessitant un débit quasi constant.
