Les turbines à coussin d’air. C'est la deuxième génération de turbines. Afin de diminuer le bruit, les roulements à billes sont supprimés. L'air comprimé est réparti de telle façon qu'il soit utilisé d’une part pour faire tourner la turbine mais aussi qu'il s’interpose entre celle-ci et les parois de façon à lui éviter les frottements en réalisant un coussinet d’air(ou un palier d’air).
