The rotating member on which the blades of an axial-flow turbine are carried.

The rotor element of the turbine section consists essentially of a shaft and a wheel. The turbine wheel is a dynamically balanced unit consisting of blades attached to a rotating disk. The disk, in turn, is attached to the main power-transmitting shaft of the engine. … The turbine disk is referred to as such without blades. When the turbine blades are installed, the disk then becomes the turbine wheel. The disk acts as an anchoring component for the turbine blades.

The rotor element of the turbine section consists essentially of a shaft and a wheel. The turbine wheel is a dynamically balanced unit consisting of blades attached to a rotating disk. The disk, in turn, is attached to the main power-transmitting shaft of the engine. The exhaust gases leaving the turbine inlet nozzle vanes act on the blades of the turbine wheel, causing the assembly to rotate at a very high rate of speed.

Al entrar a la etapa de la turbina, se le permite al aire expandirse y acelerarse a gran velocidad, forzándolo a pasar a través de las paletas de la turbina, lo que provoca que esta gire. La rueda de la turbina está fija a una flecha que a su vez sujeta al compresor, haciendo que este gire.
