Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
mixing length [is] a concept used in the parameterization of turbulent transport processes. According to this model, fluid masses called eddies, distinguishable from the ambient fluid, spring into existence in some undefined way and then, after moving unchanged over a certain path length, become indistinguishable from the surrounding fluid. This path length, over which the eddy mixes with the surrounding fluid, is called the mixing length. This model is analogous to the mean free path of a molecule or atom between collisions. 3, record 3, English, - mixing%20length

Miniature whirlwinds trailing from the wingtips of any aircraft in flight. 2, record 4, English, - vortex%20turbulence
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The vortex circulation is outward, upward and around the wing tips when viewed from either ahead or behind the aircraft. Tests with large aircraft have shown that the vortices remain spaced a bit less than a wingspan apart, drifting with the wind, at altitudes greater than a wingspan from the ground. In view of this, if persistent vortex turbulence is encountered, a slight change of altitude and lateral position (preferably upwind) will provide a flight path clear of the turbulence. 3, record 4, English, - vortex%20turbulence

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 OBS
4, record 4, French, - turbulence%20cr%C3%A9%C3%A9e%20par%20les%20tourbillons
