The TOW [Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided] antitank guided missile is being improved under a new U.S. Army program. The first step will increase the missile's armor-penetrating capability with a redesigned five-inch-diameter warhead. The second step, called TOW 2, will include a heavier six-inch warhead and a microprocessor-based digital guidance set for increased accuracy and greater flexibility in guidance programming.
