The Union for African Population Studies (UAPS) is a pan-African nonprofit scientific organization that was founded through the initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in March 1984, with a view to promoting the scientific study of population in Africa. The West African Development Bank was established by an agreement signed by the Member States of the West African Monetary Union (WAMU) on November 14, 1973. The aim of the West African Development Bank is to promote balanced development of the States of the Union and to achieve West African economic integration.
