ACROCENTRIQUE [5 records]

Record 1 2021-08-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Bones and Joints
  • Morphology and General Physiology
DEF

Any of the primitive cartilages or structural elements of which a typical vertebra is formed.

CONT

As the development proceeds, the arcualia develop gradually enclosing the spinal cord dorsally and the blood vessels ventrally, thus, forming the neural and haemal arches. Since there are two sclerotome halves to a somite, two arches to each segment may be formed. In the adult lamprey, for instance, there are two arches to each body segment, [which] persist throughout life though no centra are formed ... The formation of centrum does not depend on arcualia alone.

OBS

arcuale; arcualium: designations usually used in the plural.

OBS

arcualia: plural.

Key term(s)

Domaine(s)
  • Os et articulations

CONT

DEF

Designating a chromosome or chromatid with a nearly terminal centromere.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biologie moléculaire
  • Génétique
DEF

DEF

Variety of loop where the pattern is opened towards the cubital border of the hand.

CONT

(Down syndrome) There is an increased frequency of ulnar loops, which are seen in more than 80% of the fingers of mongoloids.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Appareil cutané
  • Génétique
DEF

Record 5 1985-11-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

Morphological term describing the longest segment of the two segments separated by the centromere.

CONT

Correlations between the clinical characteristics and the chromosomal findings in patients with sex chromosome aberrations provide evidence of homology between the short arm of the X chromosome and the long arm of the Y chromosome. (BIRDEF p. 3)

OBS

The long arm of a chromosome is designated by the letter "q".

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF
