Hill-holder is a name for the mechanism invented by Studebaker that holds the brake until the clutch is at the friction point, making it easier to start up hills from a stop in manual transmission automobiles.

When a driver stops their vehicle on an incline where the nose of the car is sufficiently higher than the rear of the car, the system is engaged when the driver's foot is depressing the brake pedal, and then the clutch pedal is fully depressed. Once set, the driver must keep the clutch pedal fully depressed, however, they may remove their foot from the brake pedal. To disengage the system and move the car forward, the driver selects first gear, feathers (applies) the gas pedal, and slowly releases the clutch pedal, which, at a point in its travel, releases the braking system allowing the car to proceed.

modulating fire. Varying the firing rate as the load varies. This results in longer burner operation because the firing rate is lowered as temperature or pressure builds up toward the cutoff point. It decreases on-off operation and increases the efficiency of the system.

There are four widely used operating configurations for gas fired appliances: modulating fire, on-off, hi-low, and multi-stage firing. Modulating fire is accomplished by mechanically varying the size of the gas admittance opening of one or more special "modulating" gas valves. With the gas valve completely open the boiler fires at it's full fire rate. The unit is said to be at "full turndown" when it fires at it's lowest firing rate. The "turndown ratio" is the ratio of full fire rate to full turndown firing rate and is a function of boiler design. A turn down ratio of 5:1 would indicate that a boiler is capable of a full turndown firing rate of 20% (5:1 (100% fire : 20% fire).

Le brûleur reste en ces conditions de travail jusqu'à atteindre la température maximale, après cela, toujours thermostatiquement, à l'aide du servomoteur, on stabilise la puissance à un régime minimal, jusqu'à la demande de chaleur par la chaudière, qui peut être réétablie avec une modulation successive, sans pourtant interrompre complètement le fonctionnement.

The Entrepreneur Program is a provincially delivered job creation initiative to help unemployed New Brunswickers create jobs for themselves through self-employment. The Program has two distinct components: Eligible participants could receive assistance with business start-ups including loan guarantees and/or self-employment benefits. The Program is administered by the Employment Division of the Department of Labour. Under the Loan Guarantee Component, clients can receive a loan up to $10,000. The loan is guaranteed by the government of New Brunswick for two years and is interest-free to the borrower for a period of one year.
