In a telemedicine system, a patient is geographically removed from the presence of a doctor or other healthcare provider. For example, the patient could be at home instead of on site at a healthcare facility. Telemedical devices enable the healthcare provider to monitor the health status of a patient and potentially diagnose and treat some medical problems without the need for the patient to travel to the healthcare facility. The use of telemedical systems has the potential to reduce the cost of healthcare, and to improve the quality of healthcare through increased patient monitoring. Various known telemedicine systems provide a device to a patient that enables the patient to transmit medical data to a doctor or healthcare provider. Some devices are configured to record biosignals, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration rates, and transmit data of the recorded biosignals to a database for later review. 1, record 10, English, - biosignal

The ATRs were supplemented with numerous Transport Canada policy documents, more commonly known as the AK documents, which together made up the framework of what was referred to as the Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) Program. 1, record 33, English, - Airside%20Vehicle%20Operator%27s%20Permit%20Program

The Continuous Bread Making System uses the following basic elements: A liquid ferment, brew or liquid sponge is prepared and allowed to ferment in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature conditions for several hours. The fermented mixtures are cooled by the use of refrigerated coils between the walls of the tanks until ready to be used. This process eliminates setting individual sponges and dough’s, and the need for dough troughs and large fermentation rooms — a method of bringing together continuously all the ingredients in the right proportion for the dough. 1, record 49, English, - liquid%20ferment

In Canada, a Special Threat Assessment Group (STAG) was formed in 1976 as an interdepartmental committee to assess, prevent, contain or otherwise assist in the response to terrorist threats and incidents involving the use of nuclear, biological, or chemical agents. Chaired by an official of Health Canada, it is comprised of medical professionals and scientists charged with assessing a threat's credibility, feasibility, magnitude and potential of likely consequences, as well as helping to identiy the medical and physical resources required to respond. In addition, there is a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) Response Team belonging to the Canadian Forces, attached to the NBC School at CFB Borden, Ontario. It is capable of providing on-site advice and technical assistance in isolating, containing, and assessing the hazard; providing any necessary first aid and removal of casualties; collecting and packaging samples for later analysis; and supervising decontamination or clean-up operations. It has conducted a number of exercises and co-operative training with the RCMP and other authorities, and would be activated upon a request from the federal Solicitor General. 1, record 53, English, - Special%20Threat%20Assessment%20Group

In 1953, Donald Winnicott introduced the term "transitional object" to describe those blankets, soft toys, and bits of cloth to which young children frequently develop intense, persistent attachments. 4, record 56, French, - objet%20transitionnel

Determining the moisture content of grain is an operation of particular importance at all stages of the post-harvest system. Before the harvest, for example, it permits an estimation of the degree of maturity of the grain. After threshing, it is used for deciding on methods and durations of drying. Before processing of products, it shows whether the grain is in condition for treatment. At the time of marketing, it reveals the quantity of dry matter that is being bought, and thus permits establishment of the fair sales price (water does not have the same market value as grain). Before and during storage, it helps to determine warehousing conditions and to evaluate the state of conservation of grain. 2, record 66, English, - moisture%20determination

The power plant operator must promptly and correctly diagnose the initiating event. He accomplishes this mentally, based on training and prior experience. As a result of this instant evaluation, he then selects the event-oriented procedure that best fits his diagnosis. For example, if his evaluation indicates that a small steam line break has occurred in the reactor building when, in actuality, a small loss of coolant has occurred in the building, he would implement the wrong event-oriented procedure. Eventually he will recognize his error, however, by that time, the condition may have substantially worsened. 1, record 69, English, - event%2Doriented%20approach

Diatomite products that are further processed are called calcined and flux calcined diatomite. Most diatomite products are used in filtering applications. With a large particle size distribution, the smallest of the particles occupy space between larger particles. This reduces the rates of flow through the filter. The purpose of calcining is to reduce the particle size distribution. The use of the term calcined is ingrained in the diatomite industry and markets so it is used frequently, but diatomite is actually sinterized not calcined. Sintering reduces the size distribution by melting the smallest particles together. To produce calcined diatomite the natural product is heated to between 900°C and 1100°C. The high temperatures burn off organic contaminants, and shrink and harden the individual particles. Some of the diatom frustules are sintered into small clusters. The resulting calcined diatomite has a density of about 125 to 150 kg per cubic meter. Flux calcined diatomite is produced using the same methods except a fluxing agent is added before heating. 3, record 74, English, - flux%2Dcalcined%20diatomite

3, record 76, French, - terminom%C3%A9trie

The objective of this study was to develop a framework for the cost-benefit analysis of two CMHC renovation programs (Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program for Persons with Disabilities and Home Adaptations for Seniors Independence), including all effects on applicants, their caregivers and their community. The framework features a logic model for the two programs and a quantitative model of potential impacts of the renovations over time. It also lists all the costs and benefits that might be relevant and discusses how each might be measured. 2, record 79, English, - A%20Framework%20for%20Cost%2DBenefit%20Analysis%20of%20HASI%20and%20RRAP%2DD

2, record 83, French, - terrorisme%20parrain%C3%A9%20par%20l%26rsquo%3B%C3%89tat

The state of macroscopic systems can be identified by a small number of parameters (volume, number of particles,...) entering thermodynamic functions (energy, entropy,...)....This extremum property can be understood as the result of a competition between the organization induced by mechanical interactions (the energy term) and the disorder originating from the degeneracy between macroscopic states with the same energy (the entropy term). The structure of the equilibrium state is then controlled by the temperature and can be characterized by uniform macroscopic parameters, whereas the ultimate fate of fluctuations around this state amounts to an exponential relaxation well described by the linear theory of irreversible processes. 2, record 91, English, - equilibrium%20state

2, record 91, French, - %C3%A9tat%20d%26rsquo%3B%C3%A9quilibre
