Ehlers et al. (1988) proposed a model that explains panic attacks as a result of selective focusing on panicogenic interoception. According to this model, PD [panic disorder] patients pay excessive attention to their somatic sensations. They are thus more likely to notice, perceive and react to common interoceptive stimuli. Such sensations then trigger a panic attack. In a recent article, Ehlers (1993) suggests a modification to this theory of interoceptive phobia, arguing that, rather than allocating too much attentional resources to interoceptive stimuli, PD patients are more accurate and capable of detecting actual somatic changes than their healthy counterparts. 2, record 8, English, - interoceptive%20phobia

2, record 12, French, - apprentissage%20par%20explication

Free learning is not committed to any particular teaching technique, but because it is a "free market" for learning, the most effective techniques will naturally get more use. 2, record 13, French, - apprentissage%20libre

How does an instructor facilitate learning through discussion in an online classroom? Most of us do this every day in our traditional face-to-face classrooms. We lead our students through discussions using strategies that promote reflection and further exploration of issues and topics. We use specific questioning techniques that draw out our students' opinions, prior knowledge and experience upon which they construct new knowledge. Discussions have long been a valuable method of learning through interaction with other learners and all teachers know how effective this shared learning is for the application of knowledge. The same premise holds true in the online class. Students are encouraged to participate in discussions as they share prior knowledge and experience and use that as a stepping stone in constructing new knowledge. 1, record 16, English, - shared%20learning

In addition to learning styles, there are two related concepts that deserve some attention: cognitive styles and thinking styles. So closely related are these concepts that they are often used interchangeably with some resulting confusion (Bonham, 1988a, 1999b; Keinholz, 1984). This is unfortunate since the terms are distinct and should be used with greater precision. Learning styles are the most inclusive and overarching in that they contain cognitive, affective, and physiological traits that indicate how learners perceive, interact with, and relate to the learning environment (Keefe, 1979). In short, learning styles include cognitive and thinking styles in addition to other dimensions such as personality and environmental traits. 3, record 17, English, - learning%20style
