The art director, sometimes credited as the production designer ..., fills the same basic role as the designer in the theatre, although, as the resources of photography, lighting, and special effects have developed, the demands on him become infinitely more complex and varied. 4, record 1, English, - art%20director
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS
There is some confusions nowadays between the functions of the art director and the production designer in feature films. Originally the production designer was someone whose scope and talents were much wider than those of the art director - his task was not only to give sketched ideas of film sets but to concern himself with every artistic aspect of the film from each individual camera set-up through to the design of the costumes and credit titles. Today the credit Production Designer is often used to cover the functions and responsibilities undertaken by the art director. 5, record 1, English, - art%20director
