It is commonly used as a term to describe a system of representing images, where the image is composed of small, internally uniform cells arranged in a grid. The order of image storage is typically by scanlines, progressing from left to right along scanlines, and then from top to bottom from one scan to the next. Some GIS systems use raster image structure. 2, record 6, English, - raster

2, record 6, French, - raster
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 OBS

Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 CONT
When the beam has returned to the left side, its vertical position is lowered so that the beam will scan the next line down and not repeat the same line. This is accomplished by the vertical scanning motion of the beam, which is provided in addition to horizontal scanning. As a result of the vertical scanning, all the horizontal lines slope downward slightly from top to bottom. When the beam is at the bottom, vertical retrace returns the beam to the top to start the scanning sequence again. 4, record 7, English, - vertical%20scanning

The system is comprised of a telescope, a mirror which reflects ground radiation onto a bank of 24 electro-optical sensors, band filters and a sampling system, an internal calibration system and various devices which ensure an orderly stream of digital data for each pixel and spectral band. It images six scan lines in each of the four spectral bands simultaneously giving a 24 scan-line total. 3, record 16, English, - linear%20scanning

2, record 19, French, - balayage%20longitudinal

In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging, microwave pulses are transmitted by an antenna towards the Earth surface. The microwave energy scattered back to the spacecraft is measured. The SAR makes use of the radar principle to form an image by utilising the time delay of the backscattered signals. In real aperture radar imaging, the groud resolution is limited by the size of the microwave beam sent out from the antenna. Finer details on the ground can be resolved by using a narrower beam. The beam width is inversely proportional to the size of the antenna, i.e. the longer the antenna, the narrower the beam. 2, record 20, English, - radar%20pulse

2, record 20, French, - impulsion%20radar

In practical graphics applications, one starts with a set of vertices for the polygon in user's co-ordinates. For the seed filling algorithm to work, first the borders have to be drawn using the border colour (normally, using Bresenham), after which an internal point has to be identified and then the seed filling algorithm executed. Filling algorithms can be used to determine areas of closed polygons at the raster level in terms of pixel numbers. The polygon is filled with a unique colour and then the number of pixels are counted which have this colour value in the frame buffer, or more efficiently within the min/max box of the polygon. 1, record 33, English, - seed%20filling%20algorithm
