The Government of Canada owns and operates three dams on Lake Nipissing at the headwaters of the French River. The Big Chaudière Dam, Little Chaudière Dam and Portage Dam each play a fundamental role in effective water management. Le gouvernement du Canada est le propriétaire et l'administrateur de trois barrages situés dans le cours supérieur de la rivière des Français, aux abords du lac Nipissing. Le barrage Big Chaudière, le barrage Little Chaudière et le barrage de Portage jouent un rôle fondamental dans la gestion efficace des eaux.
