Agent-based models are computer simulations used to study the interactions between people, things, places, and time. They are stochastic models built from the bottom up, meaning individual agents (often people in epidemiology) are assigned certain attributes. The agents are programmed to behave and interact with other agents and the environment in certain ways. These interactions produce emergent effects that may differ from the effects of individual agents. 3, record 1, English, - agent%2Dbased%20model

3, record 13, French, - pourriture%20grise

An organic compound, CH3OMgOCO2CH3·xCO2, with x being variable depending on the solvent used. It is prepared by treating a solution of magnesium methoxide with carbon dioxide until saturation is attained. The resulting solution is clear, colorless, and has a pH of approximately 7.0. It has been recommended as a non-aqueous deacidifying agent for paper, preferably in low concentrations, e.g., 0.7 to 1.0%. Its advantages are said to be: 1) a mild pH, due to the neutral character of the solution and direct conversion to magnesium carbonate upon hydrolysis; and 2) convenience of use due to the decreased sensitivity of the solution to water, which assists in preventing premature precipitation. 2, record 21, English, - methyl%20magnesium%20carbonate

Rounded Grains are those in which the original form is no longer discernible and the crystal takes on a generally rounded amorphous appearance. Rounded grains typically tend to be smaller grains and are usually significantly smaller than the original grain from which they formed. Typical grain size is often less than 1 mm. Commonly referred to as "rounds" these grains tend to be found in harder or stronger snowpack layers. Rounded grains typically form when there is a weak temperature gradient in the snowpack (<1 degree/10 cm). This weak temperature gradient occurs most often in areas where the snowpack is deep and temperatures are mild. 5, record 24, English, - rounded%20grain

4, record 33, French, - hygroscopicit%C3%A9

"Bulling" or chambering of holes. The bottom of a small diameter borehole (such as diamond drill or wagon drill hole) may be enlarged by lighting and dropping a gelatine dynamite safety fuse primer into the hole. The burden is of course, too great for this small charge to break the ground. Its effect is to pulverize the rock in the vicinity and to expel it from the mouth of the hole in the form of dust. Meanwhile, the bottom of the hole has been increased in diameter in the form of a bulbous-shaped chamber, which will then accommodate a larger quantity of explosive. Care should be taken to allow the bottom of the hole to cool down before adding further explosives. The operation is variously called "bulling" or "chambering" or "springing". The method has been used chiefly in quarry work on bench holes. 5, record 43, English, - springing

Most of the combustion occurs in the fluid bed with the balance taking place in the vapour space above. Most fluid reactors add air only through the sand bed. 1, record 46, English, - sand%20bed

1, record 46, French, - lit%20de%20sable

Refers to services offered in addition to the basic service package, in unscrambled form and on a discretionary basis, often using the "negative option" marketing technique - licensee delivers the basic service and discretionary tier(s) to subscriber's premise in non-encrypted form as a package deal, and the onus is on the subscriber to advise the licensee should he/she not wish to take the discretionary tier(s). Should the subscriber opt out of the discretionary tier(s), the licensee blocks (traps out) only the discretionary signals (usually located on 8 consecutive channels in the mid-band) to that household through a trapping device (a negative trap) located outside the subscriber's household, thus requiring a "truck roll". This encryption system is beneficial to a cable licensee only if there is a high penetration in discretionary service subscription. 2, record 48, English, - low%20cost%20tier

The strong black liquor from storage first goes to the bottom of the precipitator where it "picks up" the chemical particulates ... dropped from the electrodes. (If the precipitator is a "dry bottom" type, a series of screw conveyors or scraper-chain conveyors moves the material into the chemical ash tank.) Next, the liquor is pumped to the direct-contact evaporator where the solids concentration increases from both evaporation and further pickup of dust from the contacted gases. 1, record 51, English, - wet%2Dbottom%20precipitator
