Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Austenitic manganese steels are used in applications requiring high-impact abrasion resistance. Examples of their use are comminution equipment for mining and mineral processing, coal pulverisers for power generation, railway frogs for transportation, and shredder hammers for automotive recycling. Although these materials are brittle in their as-cast condition, their high toughness is obtained after a solution annealing and quenching heat treatment [solution heat treatment]. 3, record 1, English, - austenitic%20manganese%20steel

Throughout the world, the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) produces more steel than any other process, and it is the primary steel production method in the United States. While the basic oxygen furnace is an improvement over the earlier open hearth and Bessemer processes, the vessel for converting pig iron into steel in a basic oxygen furnace is similar in design to its predecessor, the Bessemer converter. There is no heat source associated with the converter; it relies on the exothermic reaction between iron and oxygen. Therefore, a basic oxygen converter is not a furnace. However, there are some vessels that may use an additional hydrocarbon heat source. 2, record 3, English, - basic%20oxygen%20furnace
