... one reason that bone health is difficult to maintain is that the skeleton is simultaneously serving two different functions that are in competition with each other. First, bone must be responsive to changes in mechanical loading or weight bearing, both of which require strong bones that have ample supplies of calcium and phosphorus. When these elements are in short supply the regulating hormones take them out of the bone to serve vital functions in other systems of the body. Thus the skeleton can be likened to a bank where we can deposit calcium or phosphorus and then withdraw them later in times of need. However, too many withdrawals weaken the bone and can lead to the most common bone disorder, fractures. 3, record 5, English, - bone%20health

Calcium stones: Most kidney stones are composed of calcium and oxalate. Many people who form calcium containing stones have too much calcium in their urine, a condition known as hypercalciuria. There are several reasons why hypercalciuria may occur. Some people absorb too much calcium from their intestines. Others absorb too much calcium from their bones. Still others have kidneys that do not correctly regulate the amount of calcium they release into their urine. There are some people who form calcium oxalate stones as a result of too much oxalate in the urine ... 7, record 6, English, - calcium%20oxalate%20kidney%20stone

Kidney stones are hard, pebble-like pieces of material that form in one or both of your kidneys when high levels of certain minerals are in your urine. ... Kidney stones vary in size and shape. They may be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a pea. Rarely, some kidney stones are as big as golf balls. Kidney stones may be smooth or jagged and are usually yellow or brown. A small kidney stone may pass through your urinary tract on its own, causing little or no pain. A larger kidney stone may get stuck along the way. A kidney stone that gets stuck can block your flow of urine, causing severe pain or bleeding. 2, record 9, English, - kidney%20stone

The method used for qualitative detection of drugs was based on thin layer chromatography technique. In this technique compounds are separated from one another due to their relative affinities for a polar solid stationary phase (hydrated silicate) and mobile non-polar liquid phase (ethyl acetate and dichloromethane). Depending on their affinities, different compounds adsorb to the hydrated silicate at different positions as the non-polar solvent migrates up the stationary hydrated silicate. 2, record 30, English, - hydrated%20silicate

The bulk density of Europa, as derived from Voyager data, indicated a bulk composition similar to the Moon or Mars but with the addition of 5 to 10% water. The accepted view was that this water is distributed as a layer of ice ~150 km thick at the surface. Debate has continued as to whether this layer is partly liquid. Ransford was the first to suggest that this model may be too simplistic and proposed that there may also be a hydrated silicate layer. 4, record 30, English, - hydrated%20silicate
