The Canadian Coalition on Cancer Surveillance (CCOCS) was created to lead the development of an integrated national cancer surveillance system. Once operational, this system will link existing provincial and national systems, in effect creating a "network of networks," and it will provide information for cancer control planners, providers and policy-makers of today and tomorrow. Surveillance is an integral component of the cancer control continuum, and the CCOCS is working in tandem with the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control initiative.

La Coalition canadienne pour la surveillance du cancer(CCSC) a été créée pour superviser la mise en place d’un système national intégré de surveillance du cancer. Une fois qu'il sera opérationnel, ce système permettra l'établissement de liens avec les systèmes provinciaux et nationaux existants, créant de fait un «réseau des réseaux»; il fournira de l'information aux responsables de la planification des mesures de lutte contre le cancer, aux dispensateurs de soins et aux décideurs d’aujourd’hui et de demain. La surveillance constitue une partie intégrante du continuum de la lutte contre le cancer; c'est pourquoi la CCSC travaille de concert avec l'initiative d’une Stratégie canadienne de lutte contre le cancer.
