Les paliers à air. Habituellement pour supporter un axe en rotation dans une machine, on utilise des roulements à billes. Les turbo-machines cycle à air exigent de tourner à très grande vitesse, de ce fait une turbo machine avec ces roulements à billes aurait une durée de vie limitée et des performances moindres. Ces paliers à air ont été conçus pour remplacer ces roulements à billes. Le principe de construction consiste à établir et à maintenir un film d’air entre l'arbre tournant et un support fixe abritant ce palier. Parmi les avantages : fiabilité plus élevée, nul besoin de lubrification, coût d’utilisation plus faible.

A rough method of determining the economics of installing one EES [earth energy system] as opposed to another that can be installed at a lower first cost.

OBS

The simple payback of an EES is calculated by dividing the difference in cost between two systems by the estimated savings in energy costs. The cost of maintaining the system and replacing the systems as they deteriorate over a longer term is ignored in this calculation. A more accurate method is the cashflow analysis, which includes the cost of purchasing the system and the energy cost, or life-cycle cost analysis, which adds the cost of replacing the equipment over the longer term.

In respect of a boiler, "heat output" relates to the energy value of the useful hot water or steam produced. In considering electricity generation, however, the overall thermal efficiency is the total energy value of the electricity "sent out", expressed as a percentage of the energy value (gross as fired) of the fuel used. This overall concept takes account of both boiler and steam turbine losses. A modern power station achieves about 35 per cent thermal efficiency.

Le perfectionnement des RHTRG [réacteurs à haute température refroidis par gaz] aura pour but d’améliorer la performance et de prolonger la durée de vie des centrales. Pertes par les gaz de combustion : 20 à 30 %. Rendement de la combustion : 70 à 80 %. Chaudière OPTIMAZ : Rendement utile de la chaudière : plus de 90 %. Pertes à l’arrêt de la chaudière : 1 %. Pertes par les gaz de combustion : 5 à 9 %. Rendement de la combustion : 91 à 94 %.
