… in a subcritical centrifuge the deformations increase as the speed of rotation increases up to the so-called critical speed, so that they would theoretically tend to infinite; on the contrary, in a supercritical centrifuge, supported by rigid bearings, while the center of gravity, the center of rotation and the geometrical center are still aligned, the center of gravity is however interposed between the geometrical center and the center of rotation, so that as the speed increases the amount of deformations decreases … 1, record 2, English, - subcritical%20centrifuge

1, record 2, French, - centrifugeuse%20subcritique

A drilled-in pier (termed also "concrete pier" or even "caisson") is a variation of an individual footing. Such piers vary in diameter from 6 in. to 6 ft and more, the most common sizes being 24 and 36 in. The hole for the pier is usually drilled with special machines, and after the excavation is made, the hole is filled with concrete and sometimes reinforced with vertical steel bars. A pier ... supports the load by the resistance of the soil at its base and by friction of the sides of the concrete against soil .... 3, record 5, English, - pier

The second aspect of performance sensitivity is usually distinguished by the name of Propagation Sensitivity, which is a measure of the ability of an explosive to support or reinforce a detonation that has already been created. Since the tendency for the detonation wave to fail or fade increases as the hole diameter is reduced, it has become customary to measure propagation sensitivity by the (minimum) critical diameter of a charge at least six diameters long that will support the detonation process once created. At a point below this value, a detonation wave cannot be consistently propagated, and a misfire ... may occur; or otherwise the reaction may be incomplete, resulting in a poor blast effect and significant fume. 2, record 6, English, - critical%20diameter
