The purpose of this directive is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of staff delivering government programs in isolated locations. Its provisions are designed to recognize the inherent disadvantages and abnormally higher costs of living and working in isolated posts, as well as to ensure that employees in government housing are treated in a manner equivalent to employees renting/owning similar accommodation from private or commercial sources.

La présente directive vise à faciliter le recrutement et la rétention du personnel chargé d’exécuter les programmes gouvernementaux dans des localités isolées. Elle est conçue pour reconnaître les désavantages et les coûts excessivement élevés qu’entraînent le fait de vivre et de travailler dans des postes isolés, et pour faire en sorte que les fonctionnaires occupant des logements de l’État bénéficient d’un traitement équivalent à celui des fonctionnaires qui louent ou sont propriétaires de logements semblables appartenant à des particuliers ou à des entreprises commerciales.
