Provenance des termes :-fanion signalisateur : proposition d’après son utilité et par analogie avec son diminutif, le "fanion écarteur de danger";-fanion d’avertissement : d’après le drapeau du même nom, équivalent de "warning flag" et utilisé en opérations aériennes;-fanion fouet : terme relevé oralement à l'Office de la langue française mais dont on ne peut attester l'exactitude;-fanion d’alerte : reprise, sans majuscule, d’une marque de commerce de Bike-Up Canada pour ce type de fanion(il faut s’étonner que l'on ait accepté l'enregistrement d’un tel générique comme marque de commerce, ce qui réduit l'utilisation que nous pouvons faire de l'expression.
