Quick Facts: Work on the Lakeshore East Line is part of a larger, system-wide plan to improve overall GO Transit service, including the delivery of GO Regional Express Rail by 2024-25. To support transit improvements, Metrolinx will be undertaking major infrastructure upgrades, including additional track, GO station modifications, improved rail crossings, required systems for electrification, and new locomotives and train control systems to enable more frequent service. The province is investing $21.3 billion to transform the GO rail network from a commuter transit system to a regional rapid transit system. The project is being delivered as a build finance (BF) contract using Infrastructure Ontario's Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) model, which transfers risks associated with construction and financing of the project to the private sector.

MEASAT (Malaysia East Asia Satellite) is the name of a line of Malaysian communications satellites owned and operated by MEASAT Satellite Systems. In May 1994, Binariang Sdn. Bhd. of Kuala Lumpur and Boeing Satellite Systems signed a contract calling for the construction of the Malaysia East Asia Satellite (MEASAT) system. The system called for one Boeing 376 model spacecraft, equipment for a satellite control station on Langkawi Island, and training of Malaysian spacecraft controllers.

Région géographique dont la définition varie selon les ouvrages consultés. On la confond souvent avec Proche-Orient, au point qu'il est difficile de faire la distinction. Cette confusion viendrait du fait que l'on a donné le nom de Moyen-Orient au commandement de l'armée britannique stationné en Égypte avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Malgré les protestations des sociétés géographiques américaines et britanniques, le nom est resté. Jadis, l'ethnocentrisme des Européens a amené le découpage d’une partie de l'Afrique septentrionale et de l'Asie occidentale en deux régions : Le Proche-Orient et le Moyen-Orient, l'Extrême-Orient désignant des contrées éloignées comme la Chine, le Japon, etc. Le Proche-Orient s’entendait des pays voisins de l'extrémité orientale de la Méditerranée, tandis que le Moyen-Orient désignait aussi des États situés plus à l'est, comme l'Afghanistan et le Pakistan. Mais ces définitions ont quelque peu volé en éclats, de sorte qu'on ne sait plus très bien si l'expression est employée au sens strict ou bien si elle désigne l'ensemble de la région formée du Proche et du Moyen-Orient. C'est ce qui explique l'apparition récente de l'expression «Greater Middle East», rendue par «Moyen-Orient élargi», expression utilisée rarement, le terme «Moyen-Orient» s’étant imposé pour désigner l'ensemble de la région. Bien que les ouvrages de référence ne concordent pas parfaitement, ils s’entendent pour dire que le Moyen-Orient comprend les pays du Proche-Orient, plus l'Afghanistan, l'Iran et l'Iraq.

Ce courant-jet a une vitesse moyenne inférieure à celle des autres courant-jets(12-15m. s-1) [...] mais il assure plus de la moitié du transport des masses inter-hémisphères entre les Mascareignes et la péninsule Indienne, soit 7. 1010 kg. s-1 durant le mois de juillet [...] Après avoir atteint les côtes africaines et traversé la mer d’Arabie, il se scinde en deux branches, l'une divergeant vers le Sri Lanka, l'autre continuant jusqu'à atteindre l'Inde à la hauteur de Bombay. L'origine de ce jet est à chercher dans a divergence des hautes pressions du sud de l'océan Indien et la convergence vers les basses pressions de la mousson indienne, le relief de Madagascar guidant ce flux vers le nord [...] La figure 7 présente les différentes positions du jet de Somalie entre février et juillet. Ce jet est perceptible au nord de Madagascar presque toute l'année mais il n’ atteint les côtes africaines qu'au mois de mai.
