The francisca is characterised by its distinctly arch-shaped head, widening toward the cutting edge and terminating in a prominent point at both the upper and lower corners. The top of the head is usually either S-shaped or convex with the lower portion curving inward and forming an elbow with the short wooden haft. The upswept point and downturned edge were both capable of penetrating chain mail. 3, record 7, English, - francisca

2, record 15, French, - extraction%20d%26rsquo%3Beau%20lourde

Tritium is a hydrogen atom that has 2 neutrons in the nucleus, in addition to its single proton, giving it an atomic weight near 3. Although tritium can be a gas, its most common form is in water, because, like non-radioactive hydrogen, radioactive tritium reacts with oxygen to form water. Tritium replaces one of the stable hydrogens in the water molecule, H2O, and is called tritiated water. Like H2O, tritiated water is colorless and odorless. Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years and emits a very weak beta particle. 4, record 18, English, - tritiated%20water

One of the most notable characteristics of an estuary is the differing gradients of salinity that are present ... These gradients may appear both horizontally and vertically within the water column. Under flood tide conditions the layer of surface water coming into the estuary is moving at a faster rate than the bottom layer. As the tidal waters come in contact with the fresh water moving out of the river, the more dense salt water sinks to the bottom causing the fresh water to rise. The result of this tidal movement is a mixing of the fresh and salt water from the top to the bottom referred to as tidal over-mixing, and a salt water "wedge" being formed. The wedge is narrowest at the head of the river and it broadens out towards the mouth of the river. 6, record 19, English, - salt%2Dwater%20wedge

Heavy water coolant is supplied to the pressure tubes in each circuit via large headers at each end of the calandria, one pair of headers (inlet/outlet) for each half of the core. 1, record 37, English, - heavy%2Dwater%20coolant

2, record 55, French, - chariot%20de%20mandrin

The prankster's water bomb has matured into a new tool for fighting fires. Instead of low-flying helicopters and small planes pouring water over hot spots, Boeing has devised a way to use its C-17 military transports to bombard blazes with beach ball-size containers loaded with water or fire retardant. One advantage of using the multifaceted, biodegradable bombs is that they could be dropped with high precision, striking the core of the fire. Some 2800 containers bursting evenly at the same moment would be more effective than showering water from above. A fully loaded C-17 could deliver 144,000 pounds of liquid in one spot or in several locations. Conventional "firebombers" usually empty an entire load in a single run. 2, record 67, English, - water%20bomb
