Primary disinfection is the application of a disinfectant in the drinking water treatment plant, with a primary objective to achieve the necessary microbial inactivation. The efficacy of disinfection using chlorine can be predicted based on a knowledge of the residual free chlorine concentration, temperature, pH, and contact time. This relationship is commonly referred to as the CT concept and is used by public drinking water suppliers as one tool for ensuring adequate inactivation of organisms during disinfection. CT is the product of the residual concentration of disinfectant (C), measured in mg/L at the outlet of the contact chamber, and the disinfectant contact time (T), measured in minutes. The CT values required to achieve the necessary inactivation will depend on the microorganism targeted, pH, and temperature. 1, record 2, English, - CT%20concept

2, record 4, French, - d%C3%A9p%C3%B4t%20de%20corrosion

Waterless urinals don't flush, they drain by gravity. Their outflow pipes connect to a building's existing plumbing system. Besides the water savings, with waterless urinals, no limescale is deposited within the plumbing. Deodorization is the number one maintenance issue that waterless urinals face. However, filters, urinal blocks and other deodorization methods can control how the urine is disposed of during the draining process. 2, record 29, English, - waterless%20urinal

2, record 40, French, - norme%20quantitative

Aquatic weeds can be grouped by the following categories: algae, and emersed, floating, submersed and marginal (shoreline) weeds. Algae are green, stringy mats, sometimes called "pond scum". Algae are primitive plants without leaves, stems or roots. Emersed aquatic weeds generally are rooted in the soil, with part of the plant growing above the water surface. ... Floating aquatic weeds are seed-bearing plants that float freely on the surface of the water or have leaves that float on the surface, connected by long stems to roots in the lake bottom. Submersed aquatic weeds are rooted in the soil and the entire plant is under the surface of the water. Some submersed aquatic weeds have flowers that emerge above the water surface. Marginal aquatic weeds can be herbaceous or woody and grow around the margins of the water. Marginal aquatic weeds may grow either in the shallow water or along the banks of the shoreline. 3, record 56, English, - aquatic%20weed

3, record 56, French, - mauvaise%20herbe%20aquatique

Add about 5 drops of crystal violet stain over the fixed culture. Let stand for 60 seconds. Note that a clothes pin is used to hold the slide during the staining procedure to avoid staining one's hand. Pour off the stain and gently rinse the excess stain with a stream of water from a faucet or a plastic water bottle. Note that the objective of this step is to wash off the stain, not the fixed culture. 1, record 98, English, - fixed%20culture
