A small deposit of subperiosteal bone at the periphery of a bone tumor or infection. Radiologically this produces a triangular appearance on the surface of the bone at the edge of the lesion. The appearance is mainly seen in sarcoma of bone, although it may be seen in osteomyelitis. [From BUMED, 1989, p. 383 and GOMED, 1979, p. 292.] 2, record 1, English, - Codman%27s%20triangle

Periosteal reaction refers to the deposition of new bone beneath the periosteum. Several types of reaction may be induced, each with a different dynamic and physiologic implication. The reactions may be unilaminar (single layer), multilaminar, cuffed (Codman's triangle), spiculated, or cloaked. 1, record 2, English, - periosteal%20reaction
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The term periostitis is often used loosely in describing non-inflammatory periosteal bone formation; the term periosteal reaction should be employed in such conditions. 3, record 2, English, - periosteal%20reaction
