In western Christian tradition, January 6 is celebrated as Epiphany. Epiphany is the climax of the Christmas Season and the Twelve Days of Christmas, which are counted from December 25th until January 5th. The day before Epiphany is the twelfth day of Christmas, and is sometimes called Twelfth Night, an occasion for feasting in some cultures. Le terme «épiphanie» est issue du grec et signifie «apparition». Célébrée le 6 janvier, cette fête correspond à la présentation de Jésus enfant aux Rois Mages. Ce jour est aussi celui du premier miracle des noces de Cana et avant tout la date de baptème du Christ. Dès le Ve siècle, l'Église donna une importance considérable à cet événement.
