The Sherman Antitrust Act (Sherman Act), July 2, 1890, ch. 647, 26 Stat. 209, 15 U.S.C. & I was the first United States Federal statute to limit cartels and monopolies. It falls under antitrust law. The Act provides: "Every contract, combination in the form of trust or otherwise, or conspiracy, in restraint of trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, is declared to be illegal". The Act also provides: "Every person who shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any other person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony ..." 1, record 7, French, - Sherman%20Antitrust%20Act

On 8 September, UNESCO celebrates International Literacy Day. Some people may believe that, in the audiovisual age, writing is outmoded; but this is by no means true. On the one hand, the written word is still indispensable as a reference point or a compass, enabling us to get our bearings in the galaxy of visual images. On the other hand, written knowledge is as vital as ever to the self-realization of every individual, every social group and every nation. Mastery of the written word is still a condition of access to knowledge and the full exercise of citizenship. Although illiteracy, in oral civilizations, can clearly not be equated with ignorance, it is a major obstacle to the acquisition of the knowledge and know-how that are essential for daily life in modern society. 1, record 8, English, - International%20Literacy%20Day

1, record 8, French, - Journ%C3%A9e%20internationale%20de%20l%26rsquo%3Balphab%C3%A9tisation
