The P24 antigen test is, like the PCR test and a culture for HIV, a test that detects the presence of HIV in the blood. P24 is one of the several proteins (the protein with a molecular weight of 24,000) that make up HIV.

Cette mesure est en conformité avec la directive de Santé Canada d’aller de l'avant avec cette épreuve de dépistage et fait suite à l'obtention, le 14 mars 1996, d’une licence de la Food and Drug Administration(FDA) des États-Unis pour cette épreuve.
