Malgré une relation dose-effet du cancer du poumon avec la fumée de cigarette et certains cancérogènes chimiques, il subsiste une importante variabilité interindividuelle dans la prédisposition à développer un cancer du poumon, comme en témoigne en particulier le risque accru de cancers dans les familles des patients atteints de cancer du poumon. Ces données laissent supposer l’existence de facteurs génétiques de prédisposition.
