In each catch, the fish are kept apart and are not released until the end of the last catch. This method leads to a depletion of the population number, which means that the number of fish caught in each catch will decrease. This makes it possible to make a linear regression between the number of fish caught in each catch (Y-axis) and accumulated number of fishes caught in the previous catches (X-axis). Like this, one can make a population estimate by calculating the intercept with the X-axis. 1, record 16, English, - de%20Lury%20catch%2Ddepletion%20system

Pump surging (sometimes called Rawhiding) involves the repeated pumping and resting of the well for well development purposes. A column of water that is withdrawn through a pump is allowed to surge back into the well by turning the pump on and off repeatedly. However, sufficient time for the pump motor to stop reverse rotation must be allowed, such that pump damage can be avoided. Occasionally, water is pumped to waste until it is clear of sediment before again shutting the pump off. This is done to permanently remove the sediments that are being developed by the backwashing action. The process continues until sufficient quantities of water produced are consistently clean. 1, record 45, English, - pump%20surging

Secondary recovery of oil. When a large part of the crude oil cannot be recovered simply by allowing the original reservoir pressure to furnish the driving energy, a method for supplying extra energy must be found. Usually, an injected fluid such as water or gas replaces the produced oil and thus maintains the reservoir pressure. When this procedure substantially increases the potential production of oil, it is called secondary recovery. 4, record 52, English, - secondary%20recovery

2, record 61, Spanish, - agotamiento%20de%20la%20capa%20de%20ozono

The most striking form of phage infection is that in which all of the infected bacteria are destroyed in the process of the formation of new phage particles. This results in the clearing of turbid liquid culture as the infected cells lyse. When lysis occurs in cells fixed as a lawn of bacteria growing on a solid medium, it produces holes, or areas of clearing, called plaques. These represent colonies of bacteriophage. The size and other properties of the plaque vary with individual viruses and host cells. 1, record 67, English, - lawn

2, record 87, French, - amortissement

The Standing Committee will establish annual pumping programs based on an evaluation of current conditions, including soil moisture level, water table depth, degree of water table recovery, soil type, vegetation conditions, the results of studies pertaining to vegetation recovery, and compliance with the goals of the Agreement. 5, record 93, English, - recovery

The plant communities that we monitor require periodic connection to the groundwater for long-term survival and recovery from drought. Unfortunately, the on/off status often is not an accurate indicator of whether groundwater is reaching the plant root zone, but the rise of water above the water table due to capillarity is detected easily by the monitoring. Using the soil water and groundwater data, we determine which monitoring sites are connected with the water table and which still need water table recovery. 6, record 93, English, - recovery
