In 1998, in the wake of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction (also known as the Ottawa Convention), (Youth Mine action Ambassador Program (YMAAP) was launched "to create sustainable community action supporting the global movement to end the suffering caused by landmines," to keep "the issue of landmines present in the consciousness of the Canadian public" and, specifically, to deploy YAs across Canada "to raise awareness among Canadian Youth about the ongoing global landmines disaster(5)." Today, "YMAAP is an internship program in which young professionals deliver education and awareness-raising programs on the landmines issue to communities across Canada(6)." 1, record 1, French, - Programme%20des%20jeunes%20ambassadeurs%20pour%20l%26rsquo%3Baction%20contre%20les%20mines
