If a product has a Ramsbottom carbon residue of less than 0,1 %, the procedure is modified by carrying out the test on a 10% distillation residue.

Noter la valeur obtenue, en pourcentage en masse [% (m/m)], comme étant le carbone résiduel dit «Ramsbottom», ou comme étant le carbone résiduel dit «Ramsbottom» sur le résidu 10 % de distillation (avec une prise d’essai de 100 ml), et faire référence à la présente Norme internationale.

En général, le résidu «Ramsbottom» décrit dans la présente norme est la méthode recommandée pour les échantillons fluides en-dessous de 90 °C. Le résidu «Conradson» trouve son emploi dans la caractérisation des résidus lourds qui ne peuvent pas se charger facilement dans une ampoule de cokéfaction «Ramsbottom» et lorsqu'il est intéressant d’examiner le résidu ou de poursuivre l'essai.

Alliance Technologies Corporation/TRC Companies Inc. have been selected to conduct the next test phase of NITEP: environmental characterization of refuse derived fuel (RDF) incineration technology. This will be a joint effort of Environment Canada and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with participation by a number of states and provinces. The test site is the 2000 tonne per day Mid Connecticut Resources Recovery Plant in Hartford, Connecticut. The characterization test phase is scheduled for June 1988 and the performance test phase for September 1988.

Il s’agit d’une entreprise conjointe d’Environnement Canada et de l’EPA étatsunienne à laquelle participeront un certain nombre d’états et de provinces. L’usine Mid Connecticut Resources Recovery Plant de Hartford, au Connecticut, d’une capacité de 2000 tonnes par jour, a été choisie pour cette étude. Les essais de caractérisation sont prévus pour juin 1988 et les essais de performance, pour septembre 1988.
