Rations given to animals can be divided into two parts, a maintenance ration and a production ration. A maintenance ration may be described as that which will maintain an animal that is in a resting and non-producing condition and in good health, in the same condition and at the same weight for an indefinite period. This type of lace is made with a needle. It is considered to be the most delicate and precious of all laces. The pattern is first designed on paper, often reinforced with a piece of tissue, on which the design is realized. The design usually represents a rose or some other flower. To start, the lacemaker elaborates the flower's outline with a thicker thread, so to add relief to the work. The next stage is to fill in the interior of the flower design with much finer thread and a variety of different stitches. A fine handkerchief medallion takes three days' work. To produce larger pieces, all the medallions are sewn together with a thread so fine that it can only be detected by the eye of an expert. 2, record 50, English, - rose%20point%20lace

2, record 51, French, - phase%20de%20la%20formation%20des%20aigrettes%20et%20de%20la%20pollinisation

... is a $10 million private sector fundraising campaign to provide the World Wildlife Fund with extra muscle and better tools to make real gains in the conservation of Canada's natural heritage. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be spent directly on conservation programs to accomplish very ambitious year 2000 goals. This critical financial support will enable World Wildlife Fund to save endangered ecological areas, implement recovery plans for Canadian endangered species, and make progress in reducing toxic pollution of our air and water. The symbol of The Nature of Tomorrow Campaign is a vibrant flower and child's hand, underlining the fact that our children's future depends upon the actions and decisions we take today. That future will be a much better one because of the generous and far-sighted donors who have contributed to the success of this ambitious campaign. 3, record 59, French, - hors%2Dcirculation
Record number: 59, Textual support number: 1 OBS
3, record 59, French, - hors%2Dcirculation
Record number: 59, Textual support number: 2 OBS

The actual method used in initial crossing of wheat varieties is conditioned by the fact that wheat is bi-sexual and normally self-pollinating. Before the wheat plant has shed its pollen, the anthers are removed with forceps from the flowers of the plant that is to become the female parent, and a cover is slipped over the emasculated wheat head to exclude foreign pollen. Two or three days later, the cover is taken off and ripe anthers are removed from another wheat plant, selected as the male parent, broken over the stigma of each emasculated flower, and the cover replaced. The fertilized egg cells now develop into grains which usually mature a little more than a month later. 2, record 60, English, - self%2Dpollinating

3, record 86, French, - grassette%20vulgaire
