If blanket modules contain lithium, a reaction occurs: the incoming neutron is absorbed by the lithium atom, which recombines into an atom of tritium and an atom of helium. The tritium can be removed from the blanket and recycled into the plasma as fuel. Blankets containing lithium are thus considered "breeding blankets" for tritium. Within the fusion reaction, tritium can be bred indefinitely. 2, record 8, English, - tritium%20breeding%20blanket

3, record 8, French, - couverture%20tritig%C3%A8ne

The Comptroller's office became part of the Department of Supply and Services. This function remained in PWGSC [Public Works and Government Services Canada] as the Receiver General of Canada. In 1978 as part of the government's response to the Auditor General's Report, a new Office of the Comptroller General was established. While similar in name to the former Comptroller of the Treasury the function was different. The Comptroller General reported to the Treasury Board on financial management program evaluation and internal audit in government departments. As part of this reorganization [in 1993,] the Office of the Comptroller General of Canada which had existed as a distinct organization separate from the Treasury Board Secretariat since 1978 was amalgamated with the Secretariat and the title and responsibilities for both were delegated to a single individual –Secretary of the Treasury Board and Comptroller General of Canada. In June 2004, following the appointment of the new Comptroller General, a new Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) was established as a distinct organization in TBS [Treasury Board Secretariat]. Consistent with the focus on sound financial management in the OCG, other responsibilities that were under the former Comptrollership Branch now fall elsewhere in the Secretariat. 2, record 12, English, - Comptroller%20General%20of%20Canada

When used effectively (i.e. splitting a volume in the right number of layers), this method causes a net increase in the figure of merit, FOM … [In a given example of splitting technique], an incident neutron n0 of weight W is split at the boundary crossing into two identical neutrons na and nb (same energy, direction) having half the weight of n0. Splitting. Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. This paper discusses the tension between risk taking and innovation, and the impact of values and organizational culture on both. The paper deals with five different types of innovation. It addresses the question of reasonable risk taking in which managers need to engage in order to make their organizations more innovative, and to sustain that innovation. It then explores the extent to which public service culture, values and rules influence risk-taking and thereby innovation. The paper concludes with suggested steps that can be taken to develop guidance for risk management and thereby fostering a culture of continuous innovation. 1, record 38, English, - Risk%2C%20Innovation%20and%20Values%20%2D%20Examining%20the%20Tensions

1, record 72, French, - d%C3%A9classement%20au%20niveau%202

The balance of opinion in the conferences was that government should not take an indiscriminate "slash and burn" approach to cut spending - especially in light of continuing concerns about Canada's economy. Spending reductions in the budget reflect this view: they focus on tightening government operations; reductions in defence spending and foreign assistance; further salary restraint for the public service; cuts in subsidies; and a reform of Canada's social security programs. 1, record 76, English, - slash%20and%20burn
