2, record 18, French, - g%C3%A9othermie%20profonde

There are three principal types of augers used for well drilling: bucket augers, solid-stem augers, and hollow-stem augers. ... Solid-stem augers consist of spiral flanges welded to a pipe. One length of pipe (or auger section) is called a flight; multiple auger sections are often referred to as continuous flighting. The leading auger flight has a special bit or cutter head attached that cuts a hole for the flights to follow. Flights are added as the hole is drilled deeper. Cuttings from the drilling process are brought to the surface by the action of the augers. ... Hollow-stem augers are similar to solid-stem augers in design, except that drill rods can pass through the auger sections. ... Because the flights are hollow, they can be used as temporary casing to hold the hole open while the permanent casing is installed.

2, record 62, French, - rep%C3%A8re%20de%20profondeur

A long open tube fixed above the core barrel in the shot-drill method of exploratory boring. The enlarged space above the sediment tube reduces the upward velocity of the flushing water and the coarse chippings are deposited in the tube where they are retained until drawn up to the tube. 1, record 63, English, - sediment%20tube

In some types of core barrels, the coarser particles in the cuttings moving up in the drilling fluid tend to fall back because of the decrease in velocity of the fluid. To prevent this, core barrels, especially in the case of shot drilling, are provided with special sludge barrels for collecting coarse cuttings. Such a sludge barrel sometimes is termed a "calyx" barrel. 3, record 63, English, - sediment%20tube

1, record 63, French, - tube%20%C3%A0%20s%C3%A9diments

Ecological Concepts. Many assessments have ignored several principles of ecological theory such as nutrient cycling, energy flow, primary productivity, eutrophication, succession, assimilative capacity, and a host of others. Studies are not normally undertaken to elucidate these concepts, nor do they serve as predictive frameworks for assessments. A notable exception is the Peace-Athabasca Delta Project which incorporated a two-year research programme aimed at predicting effects on faunal populations through knowledge of the successional patterns of vegetation communities following a lowering of surface and ground water levels. Another example is the South Davis Strait Project in which an attempt was made to understand the variability of the annual phytoplankton bloom and its importance in sustaining secondary productivity throughout the remainder of the year. 1, record 66, English, - secondary%20productivity

1, record 66, French, - productivit%C3%A9%20secondaire
