1, record 3, French, - clinom%C3%A8tre%20chimique

The HDD construction method is used to install pipelines beneath obstacles-such as stream crossings, lakes, coastal bluffs and road or railroad crossings where conventional open trench pipe construction techniques would cause unacceptable environmental disturbance or resource impacts. Using the continuous bore hole method, a HDD tunnels beneath surface obstacles and then pulls pipeline back through the underground tunnel, leaving the surface undisturbed. The HDD installation involves four main steps: pre-site planning, drilling the pilot hole, expanding pilot hole by reaming, and pullback of a pre-fabricated steel pipe string. 3, record 6, English, - horizontal%20directional%20drilling

Cable-tool drilling consists in pulverizing the rock formation a little at a time by alternately raising and dropping a heavy cutting tool called a bit, thereby driving a hole into the earth. Water must be present in the bottom of the hole to keep the rock fragments in suspension, and from time to time the excess water and rock particles must be bailed out. 4, record 9, English, - cable%2Dtool%20drilling

Early wells were drilled with impact-type tools, in a method called cable-tool drilling, in which a chisel-like bit was suspended from a cable to a lever at the surface, and an up-and-down motion of the lever caused the bit to pound the bottom of the hole and chip away the rock. Such drilling had to be interrupted periodically to allow loose rock chips to be removed with a basket-like device. 5, record 9, English, - cable%2Dtool%20drilling

7, record 9, French, - forage%20au%20battage

Early wells were drilled with impact-type tools, in a method called cable-tool drilling, in which a chisel-like bit was suspended from a cable to a lever at the surface, and an up-and-down motion of the lever caused the bit to pound the bottom of the hole and chip away the rock. 1, record 13, English, - up%2Dand%2Ddown%20motion

1, record 14, French, - sondage%20par%20vibrofon%C3%A7age
