Les vents dominants proviennent du nord-ouest mais tous les secteurs entre le sud, le sud-ouest et l’ouest (vents de mer) puis entre l’ouest et le nord-ouest sont efficaces à partir de certaines intensités. D’une part, ces vents vont agir sur les estrans par déflation éolienne (processus d’érosion où les particules fines sont arrachées et transportées par le vent). Elle détermine les quantités d’apports de sable depuis les estrans vers les accumulations dunaires. D’autre part, les vents de mer vont produire les mers de vent locales qui renforcent l’énergie des houles à la côte. Ce forçage météo-marin détermine également, selon l’intensité et la durée des vents, la hauteur des houles et les conditions marégraphiques, c’est-à-dire des situations propices à l’érosion accélérées des rivages.
