A round turn and two half hitches is used on many occasions when a line with some load on it is to be secured to a spar of some sort or an eye. Once the full round turn has been taken, the load can be held while the two half hitches are put on for security. It can also be cast off while under tension. Perhaps the most common uses are in securing a dinghy to a mooring ring, or tying fenders to cabintop grabrails. 1, record 1, English, - round%20turn%20and%20two%20half%20hitches

1, record 1, French, - tour%20mort%20et%20deux%20demi%2Dclefs

In December of 1994, the Tropical Atmosphere Ocean (TAO) Array was completed. The TAO Array is a series of about seventy buoys carefully placed in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Each buoy has special equipment that records information about the water and the air above the water. All of the buoys work together, forming an array, to give scientists a big picture of climate conditions in the area. The buoys send their data to scientists everyday by way of weather satellites that orbit Earth. Since 1994, scientists have been able to watch the water and the air for signs of El Niño. Once they notice that the water is getting warmer, they can keep track of the other changes and help to make predictions about the effects of El Niño better than they ever have before. 1, record 2, English, - Tropical%20Atmosphere%20Ocean%20Array

1, record 2, French, - R%C3%A9seau%20oc%C3%A9an%2Datmosph%C3%A8re%20pour%20observation%20dans%20les%20mers%20tropicales
