Consent secured by force or threat of force is not acceptable, nor is consent extracted from someone who is under the influence of drugs. Mere economic duress, however, is not sufficient to obliterate an otherwise valid consent, but this conclusion is increasingly under attack. ... Young children cannot give a valid consent. Their parents must do so on their behalf. ... In Johnston v. Wellesley Hospital, a 20-year-old underwent an acne treatment by a dermatologist when the age of majority was 21 years. The court held that the consent was operative because the plaintiff was capable of fully appreciating the nature and consequences of the treatment and could, therefore, validly agree to it. 2, record 7, English, - valid%20consent

2, record 7, French, - consentement%20valide

For CWRS [Canada Western Red Spring] and CWAD [Canada Western Amber Durum], there are specific limits for kernels damaged by grasshopper and armyworm, midge and sawfly; grasshoppers and armyworms chew out sections of kernels, particularly the ends and sides; at an early stage, armyworms may chew tunnels through the kernels; this destroys the endosperm, and leaves the exposed chewed areas susceptible to fungal and bacterial infections; heavy discolourations and moulds may result; the orange wheat blossom midge causes a distinct form of damage; grade tolerances for midge have existed for many years based primarily on the shrivelling and distortion of midge-damaged kernels; the tiny midge larvae feed directly on the developing kernels in the heads of wheat; the extent of damage largely depends on the number of larvae feeding on each kernel. Only recently have the full effects of midge damage on Canadian red spring bread wheat quality been studied, revealing the seriousness of midge damage to quality. The shrunken distorted grains reduce flour yields and produce dark flours with increased flour ash. Severely midge-damaged wheat exhibits weak, sticky dough properties, low baking absorption and poor bread quality. Protein content is abnormally high, but gluten protein quality is distinctly inferior. 2, record 18, English, - insect%20damage

2, record 19, French, - capot%20actif

A field line is a locus that is defined by a vector field and a starting location within the field. A vector field defines a direction at all points in space; a field line may be constructed by tracing a path in the direction of the vector field. More precisely, the tangent line to the path at each point is required to be parallel to the vector field at that point. Field lines are useful for visualizing vector fields, which consist of a separate individual vector for every location in space. If the vector field describes a velocity field, then the field lines follow stream lines in the flow. Perhaps the most familiar example of a vector field described by field lines is the magnetic field, which is often depicted using field lines emanating from a magnet. 1, record 21, English, - field%20line

At low concentrations (when only long-range coulombic forces need to be considered) the effect on a given reaction is determined only by the ionic strength of the solution and not by the chemical identity of the ions. For practical purposes, this concentration range is roughly the same as the region of validity of the Debye-Huckel limiting law for activity coefficients. At higher concentrations, the effect of an added electrolyte depends also on the chemical identity of the ions. The physical adsorption method for the immobilization of enzyme is based on the physical adsorption of enzyme protein on the surface of water-insoluble carriers. This method often causes little or no conformational change of the enzyme protein, or destruction of its active center. Accordingly, if a suitable carrier for the target enzyme is found, this method may be both simple and effective. However, this method has the disadvantage that the adsorbed enzyme may leak from the carrier during utilization, because the binding force between the enzyme protein and carrier is weak. 1, record 30, English, - adsorbed%20enzyme
