Un système normalisé de découpage et de numérotation de la cartographie de base d’un territoire donné. Chaque feuille cartographique, ou coupure, est représentée dans un format dont les limites sont définies, à des intervalles réguliers, par des coordonnées soit géographiques(latitude, longitude), soit rectangulaires(coordonnées issues de la projection adoptée).
