The OECD Tourism Committee is in a unique position to serve as an international forum for co-ordinating policies and actions. The OECD is the only global forum for discussions of tourism policies among industrialised countries. Once a year, the OECD brings together senior policy makers in the tourism area to discuss major industry developments, takes action when required, assembles material on policies and contributes to the work of other parts of the OECD. The OECD Tourism Committee also co-operates with the World Tourism Organisation, the European Union and the International Labour Organisation. It engages in dialogue with non-member countries, and provides a forum for discussion with industry, academia and other groups through consultation and seminars.

Le Comité du tourisme de l'OCDE offre donc un cadre unique en son genre pour la coordination au niveau international des politiques et des actions. L'OCDE est le seul forum mondial dans lequel les pays industrialisés peuvent procéder à des débats sur leur politique du tourisme. Une fois par an, le Comité du tourisme de l'OCDE réunit des décideurs de haut niveau dans le domaine du tourisme pour débattre des principales évolutions intéressant ce secteur, prendre des initiatives en fonction des besoins, réunir des éléments d’information sur les politiques et contribuer aux travaux menés dans d’autres secteurs de l'OCDE. Il prend des initiatives lorsque cela est nécessaire. Le Comité du tourisme de l'OCDE coopère aussi avec l'Organisation mondiale du tourisme, l'Union européenne, et le Bureau international du travail. Il engage le dialogue avec des pays non membres et offre un cadre pour l'organisation de consultations et des séminaires entre les représentants du secteur du tourisme, les universitaires et d’autres groupes.

In October 1999, the Canada-U.S. Partnership Forum (CUSP) was launched to promote high-level dialogue among governments, border communities and stakeholders on border management. Three guiding principles of border management were endorsed: streamline, harmonize and collaborate on border policies and management; expand co-operation to increase efficiencies in customs, immigration, law enforcement and environmental protection at and beyond the border; and collaborate on threats outside Canada and the United States.

The Committee of Deputy Ministers of Official Languages (CDMOL), chaired by the Deputy Minister of Justice, consists of twelve more members, including the Associate Secretary of the Treasury Board and the Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage. The CDMOL has the mission of providing integrated leadership in official languages management, and it is a high-level forum for dealing with any issue considered to be of interest to a number of federal institutions.
