Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 CONT
In certain circumstances it may be desirable to shape the ground to allow surface water to collect in a water storage pond on site. This concept of retaining surface water run-off by reducing the peak water impact on the storm sewer capacity and by providing an attractive site feature, may be economical on large sites. It may also be possible to use a less expensive underground sewer system with fewer or smaller diameter pipes because the peak water impact will be collected by the retention pond instead of the sewer system. 2, record 7, English, - retention%20pond

The oxidation ditch in northern climates is an indoor continuous concrete channel, usually shaped like a racetrack and located beneath the slotted floor sections of the pens. Most ditches are operated on a continuous flow basis where the ditch is kept full to the level of an overflow sluice gate. An aeration device (or devices) located within the central one third of the straight section of the ditch, adds oxygen from the air and mixes the liquid, called mixed liquor, passes over the sluice gate into a storage structure. 1, record 10, English, - indoor%20oxidation%20ditch
