In children, bending of a long bone or bones occurring as a result of angulation and compressive forces, without any evidence of a fracture. It is particularly common in the radius or ulna and less commonly found in the fibula. In the forearm both bones may be bowed, or there may be an associated complete or incomplete fracture or dislocation of the other. The fibular bow fracture is usually associated with a complete fracture of the tibia. [From RSKEL, 1982, pp. 68, 69.] 3, record 14, English, - bowing%20fracture

1, record 16, French, - fracture%20de%20Pott

Comminuted vertebral body fracture with a displaced anterior fragment. It is caused by an axial compression force with flexion of the mid-cervical spine. The same term sometimes is applied to an extension injury. It implies possible instability with posterior displacement of the vertebral body producing spinal cord damage. 1, record 17, English, - teardrop%20fracture

A few authors have considered the flexion teardrop fracture and the burst fracture (caused by vertical compression) to be the same entity; however, the majority have recognized that their mechanisms of injury and pathophysiology differ, that their roentgen appearances, while sometimes similar, are distinctive, and that there is a significant difference between their neurologic complications. 2, record 17, English, - teardrop%20fracture
