Dans un vêtement de protection (une combinaison étanche, par exemple), bande élastique qui permet de s’assurer que des particules dangereuses ne vont pas s’infiltrer à l’intérieur du vêtement et entrer en contact avec la peau de la personne qui le porte. La bande est donc «cousue aux» manches de la combinaison, d’où la présence de la préposition «aux»; il est sous-entendu qu’il s’agit d’une bande fixée au vêtement «au niveau des» poignets. C’est une unité de traduction. Le terme «bande aux poignets» a été tiré du catalogue d’une compagnie canadienne d’équipement de laboratoire.
