Treating patients with vertebral fractures... First, the patient is given a local anesthetic. Then using a technique called percutaneous vertebroplasty, a needle is inserted into the spine at the area of the fracture. Doctors use imaging techniques, such as CT scanning and fluoroscopy, to guide placement of the needle during the procedure. Rotator cuff tears. After heavy work, sports, or accidental injury, degenerative lesions in the rotator cuff often engender breakdown with moderate to major tendinous and ligamentous tears, predominantly in middle-aged persons.
