Note that a stroke launched from the "sweet spot" carries maximum pace and is easier to control than one hit near the rim of the tennis racquet.

5, record 17, French, - vitesse
Record number: 17, Textual support number: 2 OBS

A strategy in doubles play in which the player closest to the net on the serving team cuts in front of his or her partner in order to play a volley on the return of serve intended for his partner waiting near the baseline. Used as a surprise tactic or to shield a weaker partner from pressure. 2, record 72, English, - poaching
Record number: 72, Textual support number: 1 OBS
There is a slight difference between "poaching" and "interception". The first term implies a resolve to move over to one's partner's side of the court, whether one is expecting to make contact with the ball or not. The second term implies less doubt as to whether the ball will come or not. It will come and the player will meet the ball to put it away. In more general French term "interception" conveys both English meanings. In English, the term "poaching" denotes a strategy as well as a set of specific actions used in doubles play; the term "poach" is the result of these actions. The French term "braconnage" denotes the action, while the term "interception" denotes the result. Related terms: crisscrossing, switching, to intervene. 2, record 72, English, - poaching

A form of softball for men and women with 10 players on the defensive team: 3 in the field, 3 on the bases, a pitcher, a shortstop, a catcher and a roover who is allowed to move anywhere though he usually plays in the area where the infield and the outfield meet. The game gets its name from the fact that the ball must be thrown 6 feet in the air by the pitcher; any ball so pitched without an attempt to strike it puts the batter out automatically. If pitched less than 6 feet high, it is declared "ball" by the referee; it takes 4 balls for a base on balls. Stolen bases on passed balls or otherwise are not permitted; the ball must be struck before a player on a base is allowed to run. The home plate is 18 inches by 4 feet. 2, record 93, English, - blooperball

1, record 93, French, - blooperball
