FREQUENCE ORAGES [5 records]

Record 1 2022-09-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Meteorological Forecasting, Data Measurement and Analysis
DEF

The incidence of storms within a given time.

CONT

The tropics are a region of excess heating from the sun and of towering cloud convection and rainfall in narrow latitudinal bands. Compared with areas at higher latitudes, the frequency of storms and the average strength of the winds are low.

CONT

The storm frequency is calculated by counting only the number of storms that occurred within the period between buying and selling. We focus on this number because the previous owner's storm experience or future storms that occur after the date of sale do not affect the seller's perceptions of risk.

French

Domaine(s)

Record 2 2014-10-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Meteorological Forecasting, Data Measurement and Analysis
OBS

Isoceraunic line; isokeraunic line. Line joining geographical points at which some phenomenon associated with thunderstorms has the same frequency of occurrence or intensity.

Key term(s)
  • isokeraunic chart

French

Domaine(s)
  • Prévisions météorologiques et mesure et analyse des données
OBS

Isocéraunique. Ligne joignant les points géographiques où un certain phénomène associé aux orages se présente avec la même fréquence ou la même intensité.

OBS

tableau isocéraunique. D’après ACNOR, Conseil des Recherches.

Record 3 2006-01-23

English

Subject field(s)
  • Physical Geography (General)
CONT

Low-lying deltas, coral atolls and reefs are particularly sensitive to changes in the frequency and intensity of rainfall and storms.

Key term(s)
  • low lying delta

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géographie physique (Généralités)
CONT

Les deltas plats, les atolls et les récifs coralliens sont particulièrement sensibles aux modifications de fréquence et d’intensité des précipitations et des orages.

Record 4 2004-09-29

English

Subject field(s)
  • Magnetic and Electromagnetic Prospecting
  • Geological Research and Exploration
  • Geophysics
CONT

Among the natural field EM [electromagnetic] methods are the AFMAG (audio-frequency magnetic field), the AMT (audio-magnetotelluric), and the magnetotelluric methods, which make use of the electromagnetic energy in selected frequency ranges from natural sources such as lightning discharges and ionospheric oscillations.

CONT

The first "passive transmitter" AEM system, AFMAG was introduced in 1958. This system utilised a natural audiofrequency magnetic field arising from atmospheric discharges as the source of the primary field.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Prospection magnétique et électromagnétique
  • Recherches et prospections géologiques
  • Géophysique
CONT

[...] la méthode AFMAG est basée sur les champs magnétiques de fréquence audio engendrés par des éclairs produits lors des orages électriques.
