Depressions can be shown to follow a life cycle - from Embryo through Maturity to Decay. The embryo depression begins as a wave on the Polar Front. The collision between air masses forces the warmer air to rise - the rotation of the earth imparts a spiral movement to the rising air. The upward movement results in the creation of a Low pressure region on the earth's surface. More air is drawn in and rises, deepening the depression. 1, record 4, English, - wave%20on%20the%20polar%20front

1, record 4, French, - ondulation%20du%20front%20polaire
