The development of a neutrally buoyant groundline was undertaken to reduce the probability of large whale entanglements. The resulting product maintained a much lower profile in the water column compared to traditional groundlines[,] but in hard bottom areas it was susceptible to chaffing and breaking. In order to reduce mortalities once large whales are entangled, a weak rope was developed, again with the addition of barium sulphate. The breaking strength of this product was 1,065 pounds, ... half the weight of traditional groundlines. 3, record 1, English, - groundline

2, record 1, French, - ligne%20de%20fond

Piled steel platform. ... The standard configuration ... consists of a steel jacket pinned to the sea bed by long steel piles, surmounted by a steel deck housing equipment and accommodation buildings or modules, one or more drilling rigs, and a helicopter deck.

The name "deep-etch plate" is related to the fact that the printing image is recessed in the plate metal, though only very slightly. The non-printing areas of deep-etch plates are, consequently, on the surface of the plate and slightly above the printing areas. The differences in depth, or in elevation, between the printing and the non-printing areas of deep-etch plates are indeed very slight - on the average about two or three ten-thousandths of an inch. Deep-etch plates have considerably longer press life than do surface plates; they are more dependable, run cleaner, and can be made from positives which lend themselves better to dot-etching than do photographic negatives, the intermediate elements of surface plates. 2, record 6, English, - deep%2Detch%20plate

1, record 6, French, - plaque%20offset%20en%20creux
